The Karten Design team took our 32 years of design experience on the road this month, giving guest lectures at USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering and at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.

K:D Design Researcher Stephanie Morgan and Designer/Project Manager Eric Schmid visited USC to discuss the development and regulation of medical products. From defining industrial design to exploring the world of human factors, Stephanie and Eric helped students understand the role and value of design in the medical device development process.

At UCLA, Senior Designer Chris Wu and Industrial Designer Christian Denhart examined the role of design in medtech innovation. Chris and Christian emphasized the role good design can play as a product differentiator, and discussed different design approaches to creating engaging, empowering medical devices.
